Store at 4 °C or at -20 °C if preferred. This product should be stored undiluted. Storage in frost free freezers is not recommended. Avoid repeated freezing and thawing as this may denature the antibody. This antibody recognises epitope E of human HER2/neu, otherwise known as CD340 and c-ErbB-2, a proto-oncogene expressed at the cell surface of a range of tumour cells, which is often associated with poor prognosis, and an increased risk of metastasis. <br>HER2/neu is used in conjunction with antibodies recognising both Estrogen and Progesterone receptors, for the classification of breast cancer tumours, and to determine patient prognosis and course of treatment. <br>Excessive HER2/neu is present in around 20% to 25% of invasive breast cancers, referred to as HER2-positive cancer, and can help determine whether drugs such as trastuzumab (Herceptin) or lapatinib (Tykerb), might be beneficial.
