This item recognises glycoprotein D of Herpes Simplex Virus types 1 (HSV-1) and 2 (HSV-2). Glycoprotein D of HSV is essential for viral entry into cells and is similar in amino acid composition, but not identical, in both HSV-1 and HSV-2.
