Homovanillyl alcohol is a biological metabolite of Hydroxytyrosol. Hydroxytyrosol is a phenolic compound that is present in virgin olive oil (VOO) and wine. Homovanillyl alcohol displays high scavenging activities, it protects red blood cells from hemolysis in a dose-dependent manner.
