SRP54 is an important component of the signal recognition particle (SRP) complex that drives co-translational targeting of secreted proteins to the endoplasmic reticulum (ER) . SRP54 cooperates with the SRP receptor (SR) component SRPRA to bind to signal sequences on emerging ribosomal proteins.
