(S, S) -Z-FA-FMK is a cell-permeable, irreversible inhibitor of cathepsin B. This compound inhibits the production of IL-1α and IL-1β induced by LPS. Additionally, (S, S) -Z-FA-FMK serves as a negative control for caspase-1 and caspase-2 inhibitors due to the absence of an aspartic acid residue at the P1 position.
