Background
CD99, a product of MIC2 gene, is a 32 kDa transmembrane glycoprotein formed by glycosylation of 30 kDa precursor molecules, which is mainly expressed on immature lymphocytes (including thymic cortex cells) . Sertoli cells of testis and granulosa cells of ovary. It is mainly used to differentiate Ewing's sarcoma, primitive neuroectodermal tumor and small round cell tumor in children.
