HB-EGF Proheparin-Binding EGF-like Growth Factor Rat Recombinant Protein

Selected Variant

PROTQ06175-01

Size: 10 µg

HB-EGF Rat Recombinant produced in E. coli is a single, non-glycosylated, polypeptide chain containing 86 amino acids and having a molecular mass of 9.7kDa. The HB-EGF is purified by proprietary chromatographic techniques.

Proheparin-binding EGF-like growth factor; Heparin-binding EGF-like growth factor; HB-EGF; HBEGF; Dtr; Hegfl; GFHB

Gene Name

HBEGF

UniProt

Q06175

Reactivity

Rat

Tissue Specificity

Most abundant in skeletal muscle, lung, spleen brain and heart.

Source

Escherichia coli

Sequence

[object Object]

Purification

Greater than 95.0% as determined by (a) Analysis by RP-HPLC and (b) Analysis by SDS-PAGE.

Bioactivity

506

Form

Sterile Filtered White lyophilized (freeze-dried) powder.

Reconstitution

It is recommended to reconstitute the lyophilized Rat HB-EGF in sterile 18M-cm H2O not less than 100 µg/ml, which can then be further diluted to other aqueous solutions.

Function

Growth factor that mediates its effects via EGFR, ERBB2 and ERBB4. Required for normal cardiac valve formation and normal heart function. Promotes smooth muscle cell proliferation. May be involved in macrophage-mediated cellular proliferation. It is mitogenic for fibroblasts, but not endothelial cells. It is able to bind EGF receptor/EGFR with higher affinity than EGF itself and is a far more potent mitogen for smooth muscle cells than EGF. Also acts as a diphtheria toxin receptor (By similarity) .

Shipping Conditions

Storage Conditions

Lyophilized Rat HB-EGF Recombinant although stable at room temperature for 3 weeks, should be stored desiccated below -18°C. Upon reconstitution HB-EGF should be stored at 4°C between 2-7 days and for future use below -18°C. For long term storage it is recommended to add a carrier protein (0.1% HSA or BSA) . Please prevent freeze-thaw cycles.

Other Gene Names

Proheparin-binding EGF-like growth factor

Subcellular Location

Heparin-binding EGF-like growth factor: Secreted, extracellular space. Mature HB-EGF is released into the extracellular space and probably binds to a receptor.
