The protein is fused to a 6-His tag having a total Mw of 25.8kDa and a theoretical pI of 5.39. Applications: Reacts with sera from infected patients. Useful for immunoassays.

Protein is greater than 90% pure as determined by SDS PAGE.

Reconstitution

It is recommended to reconstitute the lyophilized 1F8 Chagas protein in sterile distilled pyrogen free water at 100µg/ml, which can then be further diluted to other aqueous solutions.

Function

May contribute to the rapid motility of the trypanosomes, playing a role either in flagellar structure or in calcium metabolism. Could alternate between a GDP-bound inactive form to a calcium/GTP-bound active form.
