CASQ2 Calsequestrin-2 Dog protein

It is recommended to reconstitute the lyophilized CASQ2 in sterile 18M-cm H2O not less than 100µg/ml, which can then be further diluted to other aqueous solutions.

Calsequestrin is a high-capacity, moderate affinity, calcium-binding protein and thus acts as an internal calcium store in muscle (PubMed:3427023) . Calcium ions are bound by clusters of acidic residues at the protein surface, especially at the interface between subunits. Can bind around 60 Ca (2+) ions. Regulates the release of lumenal Ca (2+) via the calcium release channel RYR2; this plays an important role in triggering muscle contraction. Plays a role in excitation-contraction coupling in the heart and in regulating the rate of heart beats.

Lyophilized CASQ2 although stable at room temperature for 3 weeks, should be stored desiccated below -18°C. Upon reconstitution CASQ2 should be stored at 4°C between 2-7 days and for future use below -18°C. For long term storage it is recommended to add a carrier protein (0.1% HSA or BSA) . Please prevent freeze-thaw cycles.
