Product Specifications

Background

Pitrilysin metallopeptidase 1 also known as presequence protease, mitochondrial (PreP) and metalloprotease 1 (MTP-1) is an enzyme that in humans is encoded by the PITRM1 gene. The protein encoded by this gene is an ATP-dependent metalloprotease that degrades post-cleavage mitochondrial transit peptides. The encoded protein binds zinc and can also degrade amyloid beta A4 protein, suggesting a possible role in Alzheimer's disease.

Synonyms

Immunoglobulin lambda-like polypeptide 1; CD179 antigen-like family member B; Ig lambda-5; Immunoglobulin omega polypeptide; Immunoglobulin-related protein 14.1; CD179b; IGLL1; IGL1
