Metamorphosin A

Metamorphosin A is a hybrid molecule that consists of a pyrrolidine, glutamine, and proline. It has been shown to have muscle-relaxant properties in vitro and in vivo. Metamorphosin A binds to anemones and planulas, which are animals that are related to jellyfish. The molecule also binds to neurotransmitter receptors on the surface of cells. In cnidarians, metamorphosin A has been shown to affect the biochemical pathways involved in transduction and gene product regulation. This compound is a pro-peptide that may be responsible for the development of polyps.
