Hirudin (54-65) (sulfated)
Hirudin fragments that bind to the external regulatory site I of thrombin and the anterior external regulatory site I of prothrombin. Interaction with thrombin prevents thrombin-induced activation of coagulation factor V. In the presence of factor VA, interaction with prothrombin inhibits the formation of thrombin through factor Xa.
