Anti-Pyruvate Carboxylase/PC Antibody Picoband®, APC Conjugate

This gene encodes pyruvate carboxylase, which requires biotin and ATP to catalyse the carboxylation of pyruvate to oxaloacetate. The active enzyme is a homotetramer arranged in a tetrahedron which is located exclusively in the mitochondrial matrix. Pyruvate carboxylase is involved in gluconeogenesis, lipogenesis, insulin secretion and synthesis of the neurotransmitter glutamate. Mutations in this gene have been associated with pyruvate carboxylase deficiency. Alternatively spliced transcript variants with different 5' UTRs, but encoding the same protein, have been found for this gene.

E.coli-derived human Pyruvate Carboxylase/PC recombinant protein (Position: R88-D1165). Human PC shares 97% and 96.6% amino acid (aa) sequence identity with mouse and rat PC, respectively.

Downstream effector of TOR signaling pathway involved in osmotic stress response. Could be involved in the control of plant growth and development. Phosphorylates the ribosomal proteins P14, P16 and S6. Functions as a repressor of cell proliferation and required for maintenance of chromosome stability and ploidy levels through the RBR1-E2F pathway.
