Anti-SNRNP40 Antibody Picoband®, APC Conjugate

This gene encodes a component of the U5 small nuclear ribonucleoprotein (snRNP) particle. The U5 snRNP is part of the spliceosome, a multiprotein complex that catalyzes the removal of introns from pre-messenger RNAs.

Highly expressed in the kidney, brain and testis and to a lower extent in heart, liver and small intestine. Expressed in the lens, cornea and retina. Strongly expressed in the distal tips of the retinal neuroepithelium that form the iris and ciliary body.

Component of the Mediator complex, a coactivator involved in the regulated transcription of nearly all RNA polymerase II-dependent genes. Mediator functions as a bridge to convey information from gene-specific regulatory proteins to the basal RNA polymerase II transcription machinery. Mediator is recruited to promoters by interactions with regulatory proteins and serves as a scaffold for the assembly of a functional preinitiation complex with RNA polymerase II and the general transcription factors.
