Anti-MC4-R/MC4R Antibody Picoband®, APC Conjugate

Melanocortin receptor 4 is a protein that in humans is encoded by the MC4R gene. This gene is mapped to 18q21.32. The protein encoded by this gene is a membrane-bound receptor and member of the melanocortin receptor family. The encoded protein interacts with adrenocorticotropic and MSH hormones and is mediated by G proteins. This is an intronless gene. Defects in this gene are a cause of autosomal dominant obesity.

A synthetic peptide corresponding to a sequence at the C-terminus of human MC4-R/MC4R, which shares 88.5% and 80.8% amino acid (aa) sequence identity with mouse and rat MC4-R/MC4R, respectively.

Receptor specific to the heptapeptide core common to adrenocorticotropic hormone and alpha-, beta-, and gamma-MSH. Plays a central role in energy homeostasis and somatic growth. This receptor is mediated by G proteins that stimulate adenylate cyclase (cAMP).

Store at -20℃ for one year from date of receipt. After reconstitution, at 4℃ for one month. It can also be aliquotted and stored frozen at -20℃ for six months. Avoid repeated freeze-thaw cycles.
