Background

Centrosomal protein of 68 kDa is a protein that in humans is encoded by the CEP68 gene. It is mapped to chromosome 2. CEP68 is required for centrosome cohesion. It decorates fibres emanating from the proximal ends of centrioles. CEP68 and rootletin depend both on each other for centriole association, and both also require CEP250 for their function.

Function

Involved in maintenance of centrosome cohesion, probably as part of a linker structure which prevents centrosome splitting (PubMed:18042621). Required for localization of CDK5RAP2 to the centrosome during interphase (PubMed:24554434, PubMed:25503564).

Storage Conditions

Store at -20℃ for one year from date of receipt. After reconstitution, at 4℃ for one month. It can also be aliquotted and stored frozen at -20℃ for six months. Avoid repeated freeze-thaw cycles.
