HERV-R_7q21.2 provirus ancestral Env polyprotein, also known as ERV3-1, is a protein that in humans is encoded by the ERV3 gene. A functional role is also suggested by the observation that downregulation of ERV3 is reported in choriocarcinoma.

It can inhibit cell growth through decrease expression of cyclin B1 and increased expression of p21 in vitro. .
