GRPP (human), a 30-aa peptide from proglucagon, moderately increases plasma insulin and decreases glucagon in vivo but does not stimulate insulin secretion in isolated rat islets. This makes it a useful research tool for studying species-specific pancreatic islet function and glucose metabolism regulation.
