δ-MSH
Gamma-MSH is a peptide hormone that is usually produced by the cells of the anterior pituitary gland. It has been shown to be a low potency natriuretic and anti-inflammatory cytokine. It has been found to bind to the receptor on granulosa cells and stimulate protein synthesis. Gamma-MSH also stimulates cAMP levels in myotubes, which leads to increased energy metabolism. This hormone has been shown to have physiological effects in various tissues including the heart and kidneys. Gamma-MSH upregulates genes that are involved in muscle contraction, cardiac function, and electrolyte balance. It also binds to receptors on camp levels and causes an increase in blood pressure through vasoconstriction.
