SP1 is a peptide derived from the Candida albicans MFα1 mating pheromone that inhibits growth of MTLa-type cells. It serves as a research tool for studying fungal mating pathways and has potential applications in developing novel anti-Candida strategies in both in vitro and in vivo models.
