Product Specifications

Background

Methionine synthase also known as MS, MeSe, MetH is responsible for the regeneration of methionine from homocysteine. In humans it is encoded by the MTR gene (5-methyltetrahydrofolate-homocysteine methyltransferase). It is mapped to 1q43. This gene encodes the 5-methyltetrahydrofolate-homocysteine methyltransferase. This enzyme, also known as cobalamin-dependent methionine synthase, catalyzes the final step in methionine biosynthesis. Mutations in MTR have been identified as the underlying cause of methylcobalamin deficiency complementation group G. Alternatively spliced transcript variants encoding distinct isoforms have been found for this gene.

Synonyms

Methionine synthase; 5-methyltetrahydrofolate--homocysteine methyltransferase; Vitamin-B12 dependent methionine synthase; MS; MTR

Widely expressed. Expressed at the highest levels in pancreas, heart, brain, skeletal muscle and placenta. Expressed at lower levels in lung, liver and kidney.

Applications

ELISA,Flow Cytometry,IHC,WB

Purification

Immunogen affinity purified.

Concentration

Adding 0.2 ml of distilled water will yield a concentration of 500 μg/ml.

Form

Lyophilized

Reconstitution

Add 0.2ml of distilled water will yield a concentration of 500ug/ml.

Function

Catalyzes the transfer of a methyl group from methyl-cobalamin to homocysteine, yielding enzyme-bound cob (I)alamin and methionine. Subsequently, remethylates the cofactor using methyltetrahydrofolate (By similarity).

Storage Conditions

Store at -20℃ for one year from date of receipt. After reconstitution, at 4℃ for one month. It can also be aliquotted and stored frozen at -20℃ for six months. Avoid repeated freeze-thaw cycles.
