FGF22, Fibroblast growth factor 22, is a protein which in humans is encoded by the FGF22 gene. The FGF22 sequence in a genomic clone is assigned to 19p13.3. The protein encoded by this gene is a member of the fibroblast growth factor (FGF) family. FGF family members possess broad mitogenic and cell survival activities, and are involved in a variety of biological processes, including embryonic development, cell growth, morphogenesis, tissue repair, tumor growth and invasion. In situ hybridization demonstrated expression in the inner root sheath of the hair follicle. FGF22 is involved in hair development.

A synthetic peptide corresponding to a sequence in the middle region of human FGF22, different from the related mouse and rat sequences by one amino acid.

Plays a role in the fasting response, glucose homeostasis, lipolysis and lipogenesis. Can stimulate cell proliferation (in vitro). May be involved in hair development. .

Store at -20℃ for one year from date of receipt. After reconstitution, at 4℃ for one month. It can also be aliquotted and stored frozen at -20℃ for six months. Avoid repeated freeze-thaw cycles.
