Anti-Hu CD255 Purified TNFSF12 Monoclonal Antibody

CD255 / TWEAK (TNF-related weak inducer of apoptosis), a type II transmembrane protein expressed as membrane-bound and secreted form, can induce apoptosis in many tissues and cell lines through its receptor CD266 / TWEAK R. On the other hand, in endothelial cells this interaction can induce proliferation and promote angiogenesis including neovascularization of tumours. CD255 can act in a juxtacrine manner to initiate cellular responses, and induces secretion of pro-inflammatory cytokines. Besides CD266, CD255 may also bind to DR3.

Human CD255-transfected 2PK-3 cells. The mouse monoclonal antibody CARL-1 recognizes an extracellular epitope of CD255 / TWEAK, a type II transmembrane protein of the TNF superfamily able to induce apoptosis weakly in many cell types.

Highly expressed in adult heart, pancreas, skeletal muscle, brain, colon, small intestine, lung, ovary, prostate, spleen, lymph node, appendix and peripheral blood lymphocytes. Low expression in kidney, testis, liver, placenta, thymus and bone marrow. Also detected in fetal kidney, liver, lung and brain.

Binds to FN14 and possibly also to TNRFSF12/APO3. Weak inducer of apoptosis in some cell types. Mediates NF-kappa-B activation. Promotes angiogenesis and the proliferation of endothelial cells. Also involved in induction of inflammatory cytokines. Promotes IL8 secretion.
