Human β-defensin-2

Human β-defensin-2 (HβD-2) is a small, cysteine-rich cationic antimicrobial peptide produced by epithelial cells. It demonstrates potent activity against gram-negative bacteria and Candida but not Staphylococcus aureus. This peptide is a key research tool for studying innate immunity, epithelial defense mechanisms, and inflammatory conditions such as colitis in both in vitro and in vivo models.
