Hepatitis B Virus Core (128-140)
The subcellular localization of the hepatitis B virus core protein (HBcAg) oscillates between the nucleus and cytoplasm in infected hepatocytes. This nucleocytoplasmic trafficking is cell cycle-dependent, as phosphorylation negatively regulates its nuclear import. This protein is a critical target for studying HBV replication and pathogenesis in both cellular and animal models.
