Peptide 78 is a serine-substituted analog of peptide 74, which results in a loss of inhibitory activity against the 72-kDa type IV collagenase (MMP-2) . This control peptide is useful for in vitro studies investigating the specific role of cysteine in MMP-2 inhibition and protease substrate interactions.
