CAM741 is a selective small molecule inhibitor that blocks the synthesis of vascular cell adhesion molecule 1 (VCAM1) by interfering with its cotranslational translocation. This mechanism, which targets the VCAM1 signal peptide, makes it a valuable research tool for studying VCAM1-mediated inflammation and leukocyte adhesion in both cellular and animal models of atherosclerosis and other inflammatory diseases.
