Varicella Zoster Virus (VZV) Antigen

Culture system: HEL-299 cell culture. Preparation: Infected cells are harvested and virus extracted by alkaline treatment and sonication. The preparation is purified by sucrose cushion centrifugation. Following sonication and clarification the suspension is again concentrated by centrifugation. The resulting antigen preparation consists of a high concentration of virus and viral components as wellas some cellular material suspended in 100 mM glycine buffer, pH 9.5. Inactivation: This product has been treated with Beta-propiolactone. Confirmed inactive by attempted growth under original culture conditions. Since no procedure can guarantee absolute sterility, the reagent should be handled with appropriate safety precautions.
