This peptide, derived from the SARS-CoV Spike protein (residues 668-679), potently inhibits the S protein-ACE2 interaction with an IC50 of 1.88 nM and blocks viral entry into Vero E6 cells in vitro. It shares 80% sequence identity with the homologous SARS-CoV-2 S-protein region, making it a valuable tool for studying coronavirus host-cell entry mechanisms and screening for broad-spectrum inhibitors.
