HEXB/Hexosaminidase B, Mouse (HEK293, His)
HEXB, or Hexosaminidase B protein, hydrolyzes N-acetyl-D-hexosamine in glycoconjugates. It selectively acts on neutral oligosaccharides, not degrading other substrates. HEXB does not degrade GM2 gangliosides; only isozyme A does. During fertilization, HEXB contributes to the zona block to polyspermy by inactivating the sperm galactosyltransferase-binding site. This mechanism prevents sperm binding to the zona pellucida. HEXB/Hexosaminidase B Protein, Mouse (HEK293, His) is the recombinant mouse-derived HEXB/Hexosaminidase B protein, expressed by HEK293 , with C-His labeled tag.
