3-Pyridineacetic acid hydrochloride is a high homolog of nicotinic acid and is a decomposition product of nicotine (and other tobacco alkaloids) . 3-Pyridylacetic acid hydrochloride can be used to synthesize anti-inflammatory agents or as a precursor for the preparation of herbicides[1].
