HIPK1 is a multifunctional serine/threonine protein kinase that complexly regulates transcriptional control and TNF-mediated apoptosis. It acts as a corepressor for homeodomain transcription factors and regulates gene expression by phosphorylating the substrates DAXX and MYB.
