Beta-Amyloid (1-42) Human peptide
Aβ 1-42, a 42-amino-acid fragment of amyloid precursor protein, is a major component of the senile plaques found in the brains of patients with Alzheimer’s disease and late-stage Down syndrome. At physiological pH, Aβ 1-42 readily forms neurotoxic oligomers. Its sequence corresponds to the Aβ42 peptide found in humans, cattle, dogs, cats, sheep, guinea pigs, and rabbits. This peptide has been used in fluorescence correlation spectroscopy to detect amyloid β-protein multimers in the cerebrospinal fluid of patients with Alzheimer’s disease.
