Chlamydophila pneumoniae is a small gram negative bacterium that undergoes several transformations during its life cycle. C. pneumoniae is a major cause of pneumonia and also has been found in the cerebrospinal fluid of some patients diagnosed with multiple sclerosis.

Culture system: BGM cell culture. Preparation: Chlamydia pneumoniae elementary and reticular bodies are purified from infected host cells by density gradient centrifugation. They are presented in phosphate buffered saline, pH 7.5. Inactivation: This product has been treated with Beta-propiolactone. Confirmed inactive by attempted growth under original culture conditions. Since no procedure can guarantee absolute sterility, the reagent should be handled with appropriate safety precautions.
