Multodisc Yeasts
MULTODISCS are rings of absorbent paper with eight arms, each terminating in a 6 mm disc impregnated with an antibiotic. Each disc is marked with an identification code. A barrier of inert material at the end of each arm prevents diffusion of the antibiotic. This makes it possible to have easily measurable circular inhibition zones and makes MULTODISCS suitable for sensitivity tests using Kirby-Bauer method (KB testing or disk diffusion antibiotic sensitivity testing). MULTODISCS are offered in a large variety of configurations. Each pack contains 100 rings packed in a jar with a dryer pack and an instruction leaflet

Sample preparation: The colonies that are to be subjected to the susceptibility testing are taken up by culture media that have been previously swabbed with the sample under examination. In the case of mixed colonies the bacterial strains must be purified before they are swabbed on the plates for the antibiogram.
