The OLR1 protein is a receptor on vascular endothelial cells that plays a key role in the recognition, internalization, and degradation of oxidatively modified low-density lipoprotein (oxLDL) . As a marker of atherosclerosis, oxLDL induces activation of vascular endothelial cells, leading to proinflammatory responses, oxidative conditions, and apoptosis.
