Sodium 5-bromo-4-chloro-1H-indol-3-yl phosphate is commonly used as a substrate for phosphatase assays in biochemistry and molecular biology. This compound is converted by phosphatases to a yellow compound that can be easily measured spectrophotometrically or fluorometrically.
