Cleaves and activates sterol regulatory element binding proteins (SREBPs) . Can also promote apoptosis. Upon inflammasome activation, during DNA virus infection but not RNA virus challenge, controls antiviral immunity through the cleavage of CGAS, rendering it inactive.
