ProHAMP ELISA Kit (Human)

Product Specifications

CAS Number

7732-18-5

Gene Aliases

Hepcidin prohormone

Reactivity

Human

Target

Hepcidin preprohormone, prohormone, and hormone size are 84, 60, and 25 amino acids, respectively. Twenty- and 22-amino acid forms of Hepcidin also exist in the urine. The N terminal region is required for function, and deletion of 5 N-terminal peptides results in a loss of function. The conversion of prohepcidin to hepcidin is mediated by the prohormone convertase furin, which conversion might be regulated by the alpha-1 antitrypsin.

Type

ELISA Kit

Applications

Enzyme-linked Immunosorbent assay-Sandwich

Assay Principle

Aviva Systems Biology ProHAMP ELISA Kit (Human) (OKEH01417) is based on standard sandwich enzyme-linked immuno-sorbent assay technology. An antibody specific for ProHAMP has been pre-coated onto a 96-well plate (12 x 8 Well Strips) and blocked. Standards or test samples are added to the wells, incubated and removed. A biotinylated detector antibody specific for ProHAMP is added, incubated and followed by washing. Avidin-Peroxidase Conjugate is then added, incubated and unbound conjugate is washed away. An enzymatic reaction is produced through the addition of TMB substrate which is catalyzed by HRP generating a blue color product that changes yellow after adding acidic stop solution. The density of yellow coloration read by absorbance at 450 nm is quantitatively proportional to the amount of sample ProHAMP captured in well.
