Cytokine that binds to TNFRSF10A/TRAILR1, TNFRSF10B/TRAILR2, TNFRSF10C/TRAILR3, TNFRSF10D/TRAILR4 and possibly also to TNFRSF11B/OPG (PubMed:26457518, PubMed:10549288) . Induces apoptosis. Its activity may be modulated by binding to the decoy receptors TNFRSF10C/TRAILR3, TNFRSF10D/TRAILR4 and TNFRSF11B/OPG that cannot induce apoptosis.

The microplate provided in this kit has been pre-coated with an antibody specific to Tumor Necrosis Factor Related Apoptosis Inducing Ligand (TRAIL) . Standards or samples are then added to the appropriate microplate wells with a biotin-conjugated antibody specific to Tumor Necrosis Factor Related Apoptosis Inducing Ligand (TRAIL) . Next, Avidin conjugated to Horseradish Peroxidase (HRP) is added to each microplate well and incubated. Then the mixture of substrate A and B is added to generate glow light emission kinetics. Upon plate development, the intensity of the emitted light is proportional to the Tumor Necrosis Factor Related Apoptosis Inducing Ligand (TRAIL) level in the sample or standard.
