Involved in the development of the olfactory system and in neuronal control of puberty. Induces the collapse and paralysis of neuronal growth cones. Could serve as a ligand that guides specific growth cones by a motility-inhibiting mechanism. Binds to the complex neuropilin-1/plexin-1.

The microplate provided in this kit has been pre-coated with an antibody specific to Semaphorin 3A (SEMA3A) . Standards or samples are then added to the appropriate microplate wells with a biotin-conjugated antibody specific to Semaphorin 3A (SEMA3A) . Next, Avidin conjugated to Horseradish Peroxidase (HRP) is added to each microplate well and incubated. Then the mixture of substrate A and B is added to generate glow light emission kinetics. Upon plate development, the intensity of the emitted light is proportional to the Semaphorin 3A (SEMA3A) level in the sample or standard.
