Receptor for ATP that acts as a ligand-gated ion channel. Responsible for ATP-dependent lysis of macrophages through the formation of membrane pores permeable to large molecules. Could function in both fast synaptic transmission and the ATP-mediated lysis of antigen-presenting cells. In the absence of its natural ligand, ATP, functions as a scavenger receptor in the recognition and engulfment of apoptotic cells (PubMed:21821797, PubMed:23303206) .

The microplate provided in this kit has been pre-coated with an antibody specific to Purinergic Receptor P2X, Ligand Gated Ion Channel 7 (P2RX7) . Standards or samples are then added to the appropriate microplate wells with a biotin-conjugated antibody specific to Purinergic Receptor P2X, Ligand Gated Ion Channel 7 (P2RX7) . Next, Avidin conjugated to Horseradish Peroxidase (HRP) is added to each microplate well and incubated. Then the mixture of substrate A and B is added to generate glow light emission kinetics. Upon plate development, the intensity of the emitted light is proportional to the Purinergic Receptor P2X, Ligand Gated Ion Channel 7 (P2RX7) level in the sample or standard.
