As well as degrading extracellular matrix proteins, can also act on several nonmatrix proteins such as big endothelial 1 and beta-type CGRP promoting vasoconstriction. Also cleaves KISS at a Gly-|-Leu bond. Appears to have a role in myocardial cell death pathways. Contributes to myocardial oxidative stress by regulating the activity of GSK3beta. Cleaves GSK3beta in vitro. Involved in the formation of the fibrovascular tissues (By similarity) .

The microplate provided in this kit has been pre-coated with an antibody specific to Matrix Metalloproteinase 2 (MMP2) . Standards or samples are then added to the appropriate microplate wells with a biotin-conjugated antibody specific to Matrix Metalloproteinase 2 (MMP2) . Next, Avidin conjugated to Horseradish Peroxidase (HRP) is added to each microplate well and incubated. Then the mixture of substrate A and B is added to generate glow light emission kinetics. Upon plate development, the intensity of the emitted light is proportional to the Matrix Metalloproteinase 2 (MMP2) level in the sample or standard.
