Chemotactic factor that attracts monocytes and basophils but not neutrophils or eosinophils. Augments monocyte anti-tumor activity. Has been implicated in the pathogenesis of diseases characterized by monocytic infiltrates, like psoriasis, rheumatoid arthritis or atherosclerosis. May be involved in the recruitment of monocytes into the arterial wall during the disease process of atherosclerosis.

The microplate provided in this kit has been pre-coated with an antibody specific to Monocyte Chemotactic Protein 1 (MCP1) . Standards or samples are then added to the appropriate microplate wells with a biotin-conjugated antibody specific to Monocyte Chemotactic Protein 1 (MCP1) . Next, Avidin conjugated to Horseradish Peroxidase (HRP) is added to each microplate well and incubated. Then the mixture of substrate A and B is added to generate glow light emission kinetics. Upon plate development, the intensity of the emitted light is proportional to the Monocyte Chemotactic Protein 1 (MCP1) level in the sample or standard.
