Integrin alpha-V/beta-6 is a receptor for fibronectin and cytotactin. It recognizes the sequence R-G-D in its ligands. Internalisation of integrin alpha-V/beta-6 via clathrin-mediated endocytosis promotes carcinoma cell invasion. ITGAV:ITGB6 acts as a receptor for fibrillin-1 (FBN1) and mediates R-G-D-dependent cell adhesion to FBN1 (PubMed:17158881) .

The microplate provided in this kit has been pre-coated with an antibody specific to Integrin Beta 6 (ITGb6) . Standards or samples are then added to the appropriate microplate wells with a biotin-conjugated antibody specific to Integrin Beta 6 (ITGb6) . Next, Avidin conjugated to Horseradish Peroxidase (HRP) is added to each microplate well and incubated. Then the mixture of substrate A and B is added to generate glow light emission kinetics. Upon plate development, the intensity of the emitted light is proportional to the Integrin Beta 6 (ITGb6) level in the sample or standard.
