Acts on B-cells, T-cells, hepatocytes, hematopoietic progenitor cells and cells of the CNS. Required for the generation of T (H) 17 cells. Also acts as a myokine. It is discharged into the bloodstream after muscle contraction and acts to increase the breakdown of fats and to improve insulin resistance. It induces myeloma and plasmacytoma growth and induces nerve cells differentiation (By similarity) .

The microplate provided in this kit has been pre-coated with an antibody specific to Interleukin 6 (IL6) . Standards or samples are then added to the appropriate microplate wells with a biotin-conjugated antibody specific to Interleukin 6 (IL6) . Next, Avidin conjugated to Horseradish Peroxidase (HRP) is added to each microplate well and incubated. Then the mixture of substrate A and B is added to generate glow light emission kinetics. Upon plate development, the intensity of the emitted light is proportional to the Interleukin 6 (IL6) level in the sample or standard.
