Target

The insulin-like growth factors possess growth-promoting activity. Major fetal growth hormone in mammals. Plays a key role in regulating fetoplacental development. IGF-II is influenced by placental lactogen. Also involved in tissue differentiation. Positively regulates myogenic transcription factor MYOD1 function by facilitating the recruitment of transcriptional coactivators, thereby controlling muscle terminal differentiation (By similarity) . In adults, involved in glucose metabolism in adipose tissue, skeletal muscle and liver (Probable) . Acts as a ligand for integrin which is required for IGF2 signaling (PubMed:28873464) .

Assay Principle

The microplate provided in this kit has been pre-coated with an antibody specific to Insulin Like Growth Factor 2 (IGF2) . Standards or samples are then added to the appropriate microplate wells with a biotin-conjugated antibody specific to Insulin Like Growth Factor 2 (IGF2) . Next, Avidin conjugated to Horseradish Peroxidase (HRP) is added to each microplate well and incubated. Then the mixture of substrate A and B is added to generate glow light emission kinetics. Upon plate development, the intensity of the emitted light is proportional to the Insulin Like Growth Factor 2 (IGF2) level in the sample or standard.
