Cadherins are calcium-dependent cell adhesion proteins (PubMed:11976333) . They preferentially interact with themselves in a homophilic manner in connecting cells; cadherins may thus contribute to the sorting of heterogeneous cell types. CDH1 is involved in mechanisms regulating cell-cell adhesions, mobility and proliferation of epithelial cells (PubMed:11976333) . Has a potent invasive suppressor role. It is a ligand for integrin alpha-E/beta-7.

The microplate provided in this kit has been pre-coated with an antibody specific to E-cadherin. Standards or samples are then added to the appropriate microplate wells with a biotin-conjugated antibody specific to E-cadherin. Next, Avidin conjugated to Horseradish Peroxidase (HRP) is added to each microplate well and incubated. Then the mixture of substrate A and B is added to generate glow light emission kinetics. Upon plate development, the intensity of the emitted light is proportional to the E-cadherin level in the sample or standard.
