Possesses both acyltransferase and acetyltransferase activities (PubMed:16864775, PubMed:21498505) . Activity is calcium-independent (By similarity) . Mediates the conversion of 1-acyl-sn-glycero-3-phosphocholine (LPC) into phosphatidylcholine (PC) (PubMed:21498505) . Displays a clear preference for saturated fatty acyl-CoAs, and 1-myristoyl or 1-palmitoyl LPC as acyl donors and acceptors, respectively (PubMed:16704971) . May synthesize phosphatidylcholine in pulmonary surfactant, thereby playing a pivotal role in respiratory physiology (PubMed:16864775) . Involved in the regulation of lipid droplet number and size (PubMed:25491198) .

The test principle applied in this kit is Sandwich enzyme immunoassay. The microtiter plate provided in this kit has been pre-coated with an antibody specific to Lysophosphatidylcholine Acyltransferase 1 (LPCAT1) . Standards or samples are then added to the appropriate microtiter plate wells with a biotin-conjugated antibody specific to Lysophosphatidylcholine Acyltransferase 1 (LPCAT1) . Next, Avidin conjugated to Horseradish Peroxidase (HRP) is added to each microplate well and incubated. After TMB substrate solution is added, only those wells that contain Lysophosphatidylcholine Acyltransferase 1 (LPCAT1), biotin-conjugated antibody and enzyme-conjugated Avidin will exhibit a change in color. The enzyme-substrate reaction is terminated by the addition of sulphuric acid solution and the color change is measured spectrophotometrically at a wavelength of 450nm +/- 10nm. The concentration of Lysophosphatidylcholine Acyltransferase 1 (LPCAT1) in the samples is then determined by comparing the O.D. of the samples to the standard curve.
