Transcription factor; can act both as activator and as repressor. Binds the 5'-CACCC-3' core sequence. Binds to the promoter region of its own gene and can activate its own transcription. Regulates the expression of key transcription factors during embryonic development. Plays an important role in maintaining embryonic stem cells, and in preventing their differentiation. Required for establishing the barrier function of the skin and for postnatal maturation and maintenance of the ocular surface. Involved in the differentiation of epithelial cells and may also function in skeletal and kidney development. Contributes to the down-regulation of p53/TP53 transcription.

The test principle applied in this kit is Sandwich enzyme immunoassay. The microtiter plate provided in this kit has been pre-coated with an antibody specific to Kruppel Like Factor 4, Gut (KLF4) . Standards or samples are then added to the appropriate microtiter plate wells with a biotin-conjugated antibody specific to Kruppel Like Factor 4, Gut (KLF4) . Next, Avidin conjugated to Horseradish Peroxidase (HRP) is added to each microplate well and incubated. After TMB substrate solution is added, only those wells that contain Kruppel Like Factor 4, Gut (KLF4), biotin-conjugated antibody and enzyme-conjugated Avidin will exhibit a change in color. The enzyme-substrate reaction is terminated by the addition of sulphuric acid solution and the color change is measured spectrophotometrically at a wavelength of 450nm +/- 10nm. The concentration of Kruppel Like Factor 4, Gut (KLF4) in the samples is then determined by comparing the O.D. of the samples to the standard curve.

This assay has high sensitivity and excellent specificity for detection of Kruppel Like Factor 4, Gut (KLF4) . No significant cross-reactivity or interference between Kruppel Like Factor 4, Gut (KLF4) and analogues was observed.
